The relationship between Smith and the Bears eroded over the summer during negotiations on a long-term contract extension. Smith said he felt disrespected by Chicago's offers, setting up this inevitable outcome.
Smith's Bears career ends with 67 starts, 607 tackles, 16.5 sacks, and seven interceptions. There's no doubt he lived up to his 2018 first-round status.
Now, the Bears turn their attention to the 2023 NFL Draft. They currently have nine draft picks, including six in the first four rounds.
